COVID19 - Updated Response May 13, 2020

As Alberta begins to loosen restrictions we are preparing to have customers back in the shop. We anticipate reopening our doors to on-site visitors on Tuesday, May 19.

Until then our curbside pickup service will continue. Please note we will be closed Sunday, May 17 and Monday, May 18.

We are looking forward to seeing people on-site but are proceeding with caution. With that in mind we:

  • will be limiting the store to 6 patrons at a time.
  • request all patrons use the hand sanitizer provided upon entering the shop.
  • ask everyone on site to respect the 2M physical distancing guidelines.
  • encourage the use of masks. We know many of you have buffs and encourage using those as an alternative to traditional masks.
  • have ordered acrylic barriers for our cash counters (These have yet to be delivered. We are hoping to have them by Tuesday.)
  • ask that you only handle merchandise you plan on purchasing.
  • are developing policy to allow customers to try on sized items and (as required by the government) a related quarantine period for any items tried on but not purchased.

Please do not come to the shop if you are experiencing any of the following: fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, or difficulty breathing. If you are self-isolating and need something from us email or call and we will do our best to get it to you in a timely fashion.

We have started receiving inquiries about when we will resume lessons and start guided trips.

Although our guides are ready and anxious to be on the water, we are not yet able to provide guided trips. Once we are able to resume guiding, the trips will probably look different. Clients may need to coordinate transfers to and from the river, use their own gear, and masks (buffs) will likely need to be worn by all participants. Please be patient as we work through these logistics. Fortunately we still have a bit of time before prime guiding season. We have been looking at what other jurisdictions are doing and have asked for direction from the province. We will keep everyone posted as we learn more.

We canceled our April and May level one fly fishing courses and shifted students to later dates. We are still hoping to resume these courses in June. Our class size falls well below the 15 person maximum and we will adhere to physical distance guidelines during the class. Our primary challenge is securing alternate space for the indoor and outdoor sessions. The city-owned community hall we usually use is currently off limits. We will provide updates as we learn more.

As we continue moving forward we ask for your continued support and patience. The safety measures we are all being asked to follow are there to protect everyone and to keep the health system from being overrun with COVID 19 patients. Although you may be low risk, others around you may not be.

We will get through this together.
